SAAMEYNTA skills programme for internally displaced persons in Girible
UNDP-supported fisheries and fish-processing training for internally displaced persons in Girible, Bosaso, concluded with the award of certificates.
Under the SAAMEYNTA programme, funded by UNDP through the Somalia Joint Fund, the Institute delivered a fisheries, fishing and fish-processing skills development programme for internally displaced persons in Girible, Bosaso.
The programme combined instruction in fishing and fish handling with fish-processing skills intended to generate income within the coastal economy, and concluded with the award of certificates to participants who completed the course.
The Institute’s vocational function is not a peripheral activity. It is the route by which research reaches the people who catch, handle and process Somalia’s fish.
