A research mandate is credible where an institution has already shown it can deliver in the field, account for what it spends, and document what it did.
As implementation partner to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Institute trained its own trainer cadre in fisheries co-management practices and seamanship and sea-survival methods in Bosaso (May–June 2024).
It then delivered targeted community training in safe fish handling, processing and value addition in Bandarbeyla (June 2024) and Bargaal (28 June – 2 July 2024), including practical instruction in hygienic handling, filleting and preservation, and the supply of processing materials to trainees.
